Ronald McDonald House (1926 Ford Model TT Van)
Ronald McDonald Children's Charities (RMCC) is an independent non-profit organization with a mission to lift kids to a better tomorrow. Through its support of Ronald McDonald Houses in Australia and other projects and organizations, RMCC helps sick and disabled children live happier, healthier and more productive lives.
Ronals McDonld Houses provide a home-away-from-home for families of children undergoing treatment for serious illnesses at nearby hospitals. Doctors agree that children respond better to treatment if they have their families close to them, and families benefit from the mutual support of others staying at the House.
In 1981, Australia's first Ronald McDonald House was established at the Royal Alexandra Hospital for Children, Camperdown, NSW and in 1995, close it's doors. The House was relocated, along with the Children's Hospital to Westmead, NSW. There are currently nine Ronald McDonald Houses around Australia and new Houses are planned for Hobart, Townsville and Adelaide within the next few years.
RMCC is also dedicated to supporting the medical community in its important work by funding research, purchasing vital equipment and assisting in the building of hospital facilities.
With the help of the community, volunteers and corporations, RMCC will continue to provide opportunity and hope to seriously ill children across Australia.
Camp Quality (1930 Ford Model A Van)
Camp Quality, a camping and support programme for children with cancer, was founded in Sydney, Australia in 1983. By 1996, fourteen locations around the coastline of Australia had been established and over 3,000 children with cancer each year participate in this programme. Camp Quality serves children from birth to 18 years of age, and provides year round support to their families. The goals of Camp Quality are to provide a camping experience where a child with cancer can be a child again within a setting of emotional, physical and medical support. Our second goal is to give the families of these special children a much needed break so that they can recover their strength for the months ahead. One-on-one trained volunteer companions are assigned to every child who registers. Camp Quality is totally community supported. Camp Quality has also extended its program into the following countries: Bangladesh, Canada, Czech Republic, England, Fiji, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Romania, Scotland, South Africa, Vietnam, Malaysia, USA and Wales.
